Rosen Visits New Firefighter Training Center in North Las Vegas
The New Training Center Was Built In Part With Federal Funding Secured By Senator Rosen

LAS VEGAS, NV – Yesterday, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) visited the new North Las Vegas Fire Training Center. Joined by Mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown and Councilwoman Ruth Garcia-Anderson, Senator Rosen toured the new facility and met with North Las Vegas Fire Chief Joseph Calhoun. The new space includes a live-fire training area, an ambulance simulator, and more than 5,000 square feet of classroom space. Senator Rosen helped secure federal funding for the construction of the training center, including $1 million for the construction of classrooms and offices to train firefighters.
“Until now, firefighters with the North Las Vegas Fire Department have had to rely on other departments for their training needs. With the creation of this new center, NLVFD will be able to attract more trainees and ensure that our first responders are prepared for every emergency,” said Senator Rosen. “I am proud to have helped secure federal funding for the training center that will help keep our firefighters and our community safe, and I will continue working to make sure first responders across Nevada have the resources they need.”
Senator Rosen has been a champion for Nevada’s first responders and their families. Earlier this year, she helped pass the bipartisan Honoring Our Fallen Heroes Act into law, which expands access to federal support for the families of firefighters, law enforcement officers, and other first responders who pass away or are permanently disabled by service-related cancers. Last year, Senator Rosen secured more than $8 million in federal funding for Nevada firefighters from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law she helped pass.
