ICYMI: Rosen joins Telemundo, Noticias Nevada, to Discuss Rising Prices and Immigration

LAS VEGAS, NV – U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) recently joined Telemundo Las Vegas’ Viviana Salinas and Noticias Nevada’s Ernesto Guevara to discuss how Trump’s economic policies and extreme immigration agenda have hurt Nevada’s Latino community and squeezed the pockets of hard-working Nevada families. A recent report by the U.S. Congress’ Joint Economic Committee revealed that Nevada families have spent at least $4,400 more on average for goods and services because of Donald Trump’s economic policies.

Ernesto Guevara: High prices for gas, groceries, and rent, on top of the sensitive topic of immigration, are topics that Nevadans deal with every day, which, according to Nevada Senator Jacky Rosen, are a result of policies implemented by Donald Trump.

Senator Rosen: First of all, Donald Trump’s reckless tariffs; every policy he’s had has raised prices on everything you buy, everything you eat. The second thing he’s done is enter into an illegal war with Iran. 20% of our gas comes through Iran. Iran, patrolling the Strait of Hormuz, where our gas comes through. So of course gas prices are up, and food prices are up, as well as tariffs on Canada; another 20% of our gas comes from Canada.

Guevara: But something that worries the Senator even more is how these problems affect the local economy, especially the close to 280,000 small businesses here in Nevada – of which approximately 72,000 are Hispanic.

Guevara: Related to this, Rosen also said that strict measures by ICE and the Trump Administration have impacted the Hispanic community, which in Las Vegas has been reflected in its tourism industry.

Senator Rosen: We have to stop the mass deportations, we have to stop what ICE is doing, and call over and over again for reform, for accountability, for them to be trained, and for them to have that mission they had before Trump came in. We haven’t had these issues with ICE agents in the past.

Viviana Salinas: The high cost of living is without a doubt still one of the main worries for all families. During an interview, Senator Jacky Rosen questioned Donald Trump’s economic policies. We talked with Senator Rosen, who told us that the tariffs are contributing to the increase in prices.

Senator Rosen: Donald Trump’s policies have made your prices go up. From food to gas to housing. In every single way, He has done it all. 

Salinas: The Senator says she’s supporting a bill to revoke those tariffs and also has a bill that would remove tariffs on groceries.

Salinas: The Senator also talked about immigration policy.

Senator Rosen: He’s cruel, cruel. Mass deportation policies that Donald Trump has, targeting our Latino communities across this country, hospitals, going to schools, taking small children from their parents. What’s wrong with them?

Salinas: The Senator questioned agents and the deportations and claimed that these measures are directly affecting Latino families across the country.
