Sen. Rosen, Reps. Lee & Titus Attend Groundbreaking of New Fire Station at Harry Reid International Airport

LAS VEGAS, NV – Yesterday, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) and Representatives Susie Lee (D-NV-03) and Dina Titus (D-NV-01) joined Clark County Commissioner Jim Gibson and Clark County Fire Chief Billy Samuels at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) Fire Station at Harry Reid International Airport. The funding for this project came from the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program, which provides grants for the planning and development of public-use airports. Senator Rosen has secured federal funding for this project, along with several others at Harry Reid International, including two new airport firefighting vehicles through her work drafting the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. 

“Harry Reid International is an essential part of Southern Nevada’s economy, welcoming millions of visitors each year and connecting our community to the rest of the world. Keeping an airport of this size running safely and efficiently takes an incredible amount of coordination by the Clark County Fire Department and airport staff,” said Senator Rosen. “Thanks to this funding we secured, Harry Reid International Airport will have the state-of-the-art equipment and facilities necessary to continue their great work and ensure that every traveler who flies into or out of the airport is safe.”

Senator Rosen has worked to ensure Nevada’s airports receive their fair share of federal funding. As a lead author of the airports section of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Senator Rosen helped create the Airport Terminal Program to expand and rebuild airport terminals. This year, she has helped secure millions in federal funding for airports, including $10 million for the Boulder City Airport, $20 million for renovations at Reno-Tahoe International Airport, and nearly $30 million for airports across Nevada.
