Rosen Joins Nevada Delegation in Calling on IRS to Release Delayed Data on ‘No Tax on Tips’ Impact
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) joined the Nevada Democratic delegation in a letter to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) urging the release of delayed tax data on the impact of the Trump Administration’s implementation of Republicans’ Big Beautiful Bill. Recent reporting details the IRS’s effort to delay the release of this data ahead of the midterm elections, hiding the true impact that the Republicans’ legislation and its implementation, including “No Tax on Tips,” have had on working families.
“As lawmakers representing our nation’s most hospitality and service-industry-dependent economy, securing tax relief for tipped workers has been a longstanding bipartisan priority for the Nevada delegation,” wrote the Members. “In August of 2025, we sent a letter to Secretary Bessent regarding implementation of the deduction for tipped income, and providing recommendations for its successful implementation and offering our offices as a resource. We remain committed to ensuring this policy succeeds, and obtaining accurate tax data is critical to guiding our continued oversight and support. Without access to the IRS’s statistics, neither Congress nor the public can fully assess whether this deduction for tips is delivering the relief it was designed to provide.”
“We therefore ask the IRS to clarify the cause of these delays and take the necessary steps to ensure the prompt release of any outstanding tax analyses. Please respond as soon as possible. Any further delay in the release of this information or in outlining a plan to do so flies in the face of the IRS’s responsibility to Congress and to the American taxpayer,” concluded the Members.

Senator Rosen has consistently fought to lower costs for hard-working Nevadans. She helped introduce and pass the standalone No Tax on Tips Act in the Senate, a bipartisan bill to exempt tips from federal income tax. Senator Rosen has also spoken on the Senate floor, calling for tax relief for hard-working Nevada families. In 2024, she also introduced bipartisan legislation to cut taxes for veterans starting small businesses. Senator Rosen strongly supports raising the federal minimum wage and eliminating the minimum wage gap for tipped workers nationally.
